About this deal

So the games are (mostly) all there and complete, and the tiny machine packs some punch when it comes to additions with it’s simple to use interface, but it isn’t perfect. The system features 720p/60 Hz HDMI display output and two controller ports; two wired SNES controllers are bundled with the system.

Soon, imported systems were appearing in the UK and America, and gamers could see that Nintendo had come up with a winner – and a worthy successor to the incredibly successful NES.Some games don’t quite stand up today – Starfox doesn’t really stand up (though it is still fun) and I’m surprised how hard Secret of Mana is too. The Wii's classic-style controller will also connect to your SNES Classic Edition if you happen to need a quick replacement. Maybe if Nintendo ever puts together a Nintendo 64 Mini it will finally reach parity with the original console. With a starting library of just 20 games Nintendo is inevitably going to leave a few people disappointed (cough, Chrono Trigger fans, cough), but for our money we think the SNES Classic Mini has more or less every game on it that you'd bring up in a conversation about how great the old console was.

For instance, the Daily Telegraph noted that, “Fun for all the family was always the SNES’s mantra” and added that, “oh, how it holds up today. Please let me know if you have featured me in your blog, magazine or publication and I will add your button. Nintendo’s been emulating most of these games in some form or another for years, so it's no surprise that the SNES Classic MIni offers a pretty perfect recreation of them. Even for super fans who have played all of these games multiple times, the inclusion of the never-before-released Star Fox 2 will offer them something entirely new to enjoy (players must prove their skill by completing the first level of the original Star Fox before Star Fox 2 is unlocked to play).

Unreleased in 1995 because of the N64’s imminent arrival, it finally makes its debut here, 22 years later. Additionally, if you downloaded SNES titles to your Nintendo Wii or Wii U, you can connect these controllers and play them the way you remember playing them. While the replica SNES controllers are still corded, the cables are a more respectible 140cm, rather than the 79cm the NES Mini pads were saddled with. There are 20 games included that you may or may not have owned back in the 1990s, but there’s one extra freebie that you definitely won’t have: Star Fox 2.With saves often being much less convenient in these older games, the rewind feature ends up being a bit of a lifesaver. Those in Australia will have to wait an extra day as it is not released until 30th September, while those in Japan will have to wait the longest, with the microconsole not due for release until 5th October. The controller ports are hidden behind a faux front flap which is designed to appear like the original Super NES controller ports. Gamer Network Limited, Gateway House, 28 The Quadrant, Richmond, Surrey, TW9 1DN, United Kingdom, registered under company number 03882481. From pure classics like the original Mario Kart, to the sci-fi shooting frenzy of Mega Man X and Super Metroid, to the legendary fantasy epics Final Fantasy III and The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past, to brilliantly fun and quirky games like Donkey Kong, Super Mario: Legend of the Seven Stars and even the amazing Earthbound!
