As with most things which delve heavily into Realmatics and the entire Cosmere universe, this book left me with more questions than answers.

In the OG trilogy all that is said is that Elend didn't know that he was watching a God die, and I thought it was impactful. The general expansion (things are so well explained, I feel like I know and understand much more about the Realmatic Theory.

This story was planned while writing the original trilogy and was worked on here and there for years. This casts some of Sazed's decisions in an interesting light, since he holds both Ruin and Preservation. Ruin explains that nothing is destroyed, just changed, and that he and Preservation are two sides of one coin. This raises some questions about Sel and Nalthis, which don't have consistent physical vessels for power.Kelsier realizes that Ruin's power is incomplete until he finds the Lord Ruler's hidden cache of atium. Now, Brandon did a good job showing that finesse and technique are as important if not more so than force, but that still had the effect of letting Elend overshadow Vin in the role that was originally hers and hers alone, and it left a sour taste in many people's mouths. You might spoil a smidge of something in Bands of Mourning but I think it is pretty minor and not a big deal and I would have loved to have this to read directly after The Hero of Ages.

Despite refusing to pass on, as Preservation wishes, Kelsier befriends Preservation, giving him the nickname of Fuzz (a crewmember name). I finished all the released books in the Mistborn series ending with this one and I am such a large fan of it! Suffice to say that following one particular character the story views the events of the last two books in the original Mistborn Trilogy, ‘The Well of Ascension’ and ‘The Hero of Ages’, from a different perspective.
